I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V-6 engine code U OHV that I just recently completed a headgasket job on. Before the headgasket went the car lost power as it was driving along and then shut off. Replaced the blown headgasket and all gaskets on the top end. Everything is torgued and gapped to specs. The car refuses to start now. The first attempt at starting yeilds a putter like it wants to start but every attempt after yeilds no such sound. I hear the fuel pump engaging when I first turn the key to the on position, I have spark from each of the spark plugs, and I smell fuel at the engine block. Any advice will be greatly appreciated as I am almost at wits end attempting to rectify the situation. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Almost sounds like it is some type of sensor that triggering the no start.
Is the check engine light illuminated?

You could have a faulty crank sensor.

Even though you are getting fuel you need to make sure the pump is providing the correct amount of fuel pressure.
With the key on and engine off you should have 30-55 PSI of fuel pressure.

Here is a helpful guide on how to test fuel pressure:

I have attached the fuel pump diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
