Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic

Just replaced the alternator and battery on Friday. Ran fine all weekend and today it died on me. It starts with a jump but doesn't hold the charge. two people looked at it and said the wire that connects to the alternator is not connected that well. It's supposed to click in and stay tight but it is loose and can be pulled out easily. Could this be the issue or could it just be a faulty alternator?

Hi there,

I feel that the plug on the alternator is the cause of you problem, i would be getting this plug replaced ASAP.

yes a loose connection will definitely cause symptoms of a faulty charging system. need to have those cables and cable connections fixed

You can purchase battery cables for relatively low pricing at most local auto part stores. you will need to just remove the old cables, few bolts holds it on at each connection, then run the new cables.
