Transmission problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

98 ford Taurus SE 6cyl 3.0 w/ AX4N trans.- Runs like a top, but suddenly wouldn't go into 2nd. Shifts into Low 1 & 2, reverse, OD and drive just fine. Just can't get out of 1st. Already serviced the tranny - fluid was fine and maybe just a smidge low. Shifted into 2nd no prob for about a minute on the test drive after the service, then went back to nothing past 1st. Changed the VSS with no improvement. Could it be a shift solenoid or valve body issue ? Thanks in advance !

have to check for codes

Inspect for a broken retaining clip by removing the valve body and then the valve body separator plate. Inspect the forward clutch control valve, spring, retaining clip, and valve body casting for damage
