1998 Ford Taurus why does my car shut off while idle

My engine light came recently came on. My car then started shaking as if it wanted to cut off. Ass long as I drive it doesnt shut off, as soon as I stop and become idle it shuts off. Can anyone give me any advice. NI dont want to be taken advantage of by a mechanic.

What you need to do is get the computer scanned for OBD2 code/s Autozone provide this service for free bcuz of the CEL coming on, this is your starting point to find out what's happening within the engine management system
