1998 Ford Taurus whining noise when driving

I hear a loud whining noise when driving can't hear it from outside the car at all put wheel bearings on less than 2000 miles ago have been told that axles can make this noise when worn any suggestions

As you driving down the street
try and turn the wheel little to left and to the right
(driving like drunk )
does the noise change and if so should have the bearing rechecked and replaced
