Well, the bad is my manual shows NO pics of what you are doing.

Now I do have directions………If I understand your correctly……you can not get the center bolt out?

It appears it may be left handed threads. I have attached an addition to the manual………

Removal
Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel assembly. Remove right splash shield. Remove accessory drive belt. Remove crankshaft pulley retaining bolt and washer. Remove crankshaft pulley. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover (T58P-6316-D), remove crankshaft damper from crankshaft.

The threads on the crank pulley AND the balancer are left handed. I had to replace the pulley because the dampener was slipping and the belt not turning with the crankshaft. TIGHTEN the outer pulley to remove it, it is labeled: right is loose, and when the outer one is off, cut the shaft short so you can fit a normal deep socket on the harmonic balancer bolt, and also tighten to remove. The outer bolt is 1 5/16" and the inner bolt is 15/16".

Hello - Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.

Hey guys, I was finally able to figure this out. The crankshaft damper bolt for the "S" engine is a right hand thread. The bracket I was speaking of is no loonger used by Ford & has been replaced with a single pulley. Finally, would a bad oil pressure switch cause the timing chain to lose tension? Thanks for the quick & courtesy help.

Sorry Mofire it took so long to get back with you. The computer went down and had to reformat the old drive.

As for your question………no, I don’t believe a bad oil pressure switch could cause the timing chain to lose tension.

Chains can stretch……also, the it is possible the timing chain tensioner can become defective.
