Suspension problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 91k miles

Gotta replacel it, and find that the bolt on the front bushing has been installed from the top.

I can't get the bolt all the way out, as there is a cast member above it.

what's the best/easiest way to move which parts to access this bolt?

thanks

Ok you will need to remove the trans mount and lower that a little. Here is a pic. I hope this helps

Any suggestions as to getting new bolts? Can't locate ANY in S. Calif. south of Bakersfield. Local dealer says 7-10 days to order.

How about size, might be able to match if I knew the dimensions.

thanks

Sorry I wish I could get those specs but I can't. That kind of info just isn't available to me at all. Does the dealer have any specs on them?

The answers I'm getting make it clear most of the parts guys I'm talking to don't have a clue. 4 different sizes so far when I ask, i.e. different dealer, different bolt size. :(

Looking at the car/pic, I need to lower #4 to get the clearance.

Remove #1, then release the front/rear bushing on #4, then lower the subframe(#4)?

thanks

Lowering number 4 is correct. As for the bolt sizes they just don't catalog that stuff I do wish they would as it would be so much easier but imagine the size of the repair manual if they did. All I could suggest is that if you are missing any of those bolts is go to a salvage or wrecking yard and buy them there.
