1997 Ford Taurus gas leak

Hey there I just recently noticed I have a small gas leak um when I looked underneath my car I notice it looks like the gas is leaking from the top of the tank could it possibly be just a hose or? I was told today there might be a little almost like a tiny trap door type thing under my back seat of my taurus that will give u access to the top of fuel tank but im not 100% I dont wanna tear seat out and find out there is no such thing
