1997 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Two new alternators in a row have failed in the first twenty minutes after installation. Voltage was checked upon installation. First ten minutes everything was perfect. What may be causing this?

Check electrical connector at the back of the alternator
