The transmission started leaking a lot of fluid so I took it to the shop to have the seal replaced. The shop said the transmission had run hot and was in need of rebuilding. The wanted 1,500.00 to do the work. I did not want to spend that musch due to the car being so old. However I found a 97 Tarus with the same size engine but the motor is blown. I can buy the car for 200.00. Question is, will that year transmission fit the car I have?

Thanks
Kenny

97's have different PCM to control the transmission.
I dont have the crossover book but I don't think it will work without at least changing the valve body, thats if they are the same type trannys...You should be able to buy a junkyard tranny that fits yours for that price? Call junk yard, they have a crossover book and can tell you what years will fit yours.
