I warm the engine up 15-20 minutes oil light then comes on & have a tappet noise. I shut the engine off & checked the oil and level is fine. I've changed the pcv valve & the oil filter. Don't know if the oil looses its viscosity when the oil warms up.

Hi Lynn
Well I wish I had good news 'but I do, t. If the oil is clean and full. What isactually happening. Is rod bearings main bearings or crankshaft are worn.

You see the oil flows through these bearings and the crankshaft. There is a min amount of clearance that these bearings can have, as to allow enough oil pressure to lube the internal engine parts.

As the eng wears the clearance becomes too much. This lowers the oil pressure, and the valve train noise you spoke about.

This could also be a failing oil pump, or just rod bearings. But this has to be determined by a few complicated test.

For these test the oil pan will need to be removed.

Hope this helps. Thanks billymac
