Just this week the passenger front speaker in my '94 Ford Taurus started malfunctioning (it squeals), but it only occurs for a cassette tape, not when I play the stereo. It is the original factory installed stereo/cassette deck from '94. Any ideas?

If I had to guess, you turn the volume higher to get the same amount of sound when using the cassette. Based on that, either the speaker itself is going bad, or the amp in the stereo is getting weak. Try a different speaker to see if it does the same thing. If it does, the stereo is the problem. If it doesn't, replace the speaker.
