Check for spark first. Use an inline spark tester. Even though the engine may seem to fire on starting fluid, it could simply be "compression ignition" so to speak. If you have spark, then you are not getting fuel to the injectors. In this case, you need to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. There could be a blockage enroute to the fuel rail. If you have good fuel pressure there, then it is time to dig a bit deeper. On the "rear" of the engine, near the rear of the intake manifold, there is a round connector that carries the pulses to the injectors. It may have come unplugged. Post back with results, and I will try to help you more.
