1994 sable 3.0. 160,000 miles. I have an exhaust noise that is gradually getting louder. It is near the manifold. Can’t find it, see it or smell it. Exhaust looks good, not white smoke. Oil and Antifreeze look. New head gasket 90,000. Sometimes car idles rough at traffic light and stalls. Sometimes check engine light comes on. It is head gasket, or exhaust leak?

chances are its an exhaust leak that your hearing.

both a bad headgasket and exhaust leak can cause the vehicle to stall while idling, but i would get that check engine light scanned to see what its saying before goign anyfurther, also ifyou have a compression guage use it and see if the headgaskets good or bad.
