Electrical problem
1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150K miles

Just bought this car used. Was told it needed a new alternator because the battery would not charge. When I disconnect the battery sure enough the car stalls. I noticed the MAF sensor was unplugged so I plugged it in and tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. So I unplugged the MAF sensor and the car started, then when I plug in the MAF sensor the car immediately stalls. So I left the MAF sensor unplugged and focused on the alternator. The alternator tested fine but I replaced it with a new one anyway. I get the same result - no charging- and when the battery is disconnected it stalls. What would keep a new tested alternator from sending the charge to the battery? The alternator has a built in voltage regulator. The wiring harness looks to be factory default. The vehicle DOES NOT have DOHC. Will be checking codes with OBD1 soon. Thank you.

Check fuses and wiring
Check for battery power at the rear large wire of the alternator
