Hello,

The crankshaft sensor is called a hall effects sensor which is located inside the distributor. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

1995 Ford Taurus

We bought this car used and it drove perfect for about three months. Daughter parked it in the driveway and it won't start again.
Several people have told us it sounds like the crank sensor. We have the part but have been told to look in two different places in the engine. Where is it located?

The switch is at the bottom of the steering column. I doubt that is the problem. Has the check engine light come on? The crank sensor could be the problem.

Let me know.

That could be the problem. Have you checked wiring to make sure everything is tight, clean, and not corroded or damaged?

CKP sensor is located on front cover near crankshaft pulley. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove serpentine drive belt. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect sensor connectors.
Remove sensor bolt and sensor.

If the 8Th digit is a 4 then you have a 3.8L engine? If you have the 3.8L that has a distributor and wouldn't have a crank sensor. So do you have the 3.8L engine? If you don't then what engine do you have?Do the spark plug wire's go straight from the coil to plug's?Or do you have a cap the wire's come off?

If you have a cap there won't be a crank sensor. So it ran good before you replaced the mount and water pump?Did you check to see if you knocked any wires loose?Have you checked for spark and what your fuel pressure was?

Pull your oil dipstick out see if there is coolant in the oil if there is it usually will make the coolant look milky white. Also pull all the spark plugs out and see if there is coolant in your cylinders.

I'll need to know what engine you have in your car to tell you where the CKP sensor is located. The wires coming from the sensor go to the computer.
