1991 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I replaced my starter and solinoid now I have no power to the entire car. I can jump the solinoid and get the car to start, however the starter stays engaged. Any I deas?

You may have put the thin blue/red stripe wire on the wrong post, switch it to the other one.
