So a couple weeks ago, while i was driving up hill, my car lost power. It still had electricity as my music was running, and i still had power steering and brakes. I thought at first it may be heat, but it wasnt. I made sure there was plenty of fuel in the car.

We were able to get the car to start, but not really run for more than a few seconds, and when we gave it gas, it died. we thought it may be the timing slipped a tooth, because it is occasionally backfiring as well, and tried to turn the distributer, and couldnt get it to stay running any better. we have now changed the fuel filter, and the modulator, and the coil. i purchased a parts one with a blown headgasket, and have any parts i need, but dont know what else to look into. Any suggestions are much appreciated...
