I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SEL Wagon and when I turn the light switch all the way to the left for auto lights/ daytime running lights, my instrument panel will go blank for 2-4 seconds and when it comes back on the power windows and dome lights no longer work. Everything returns to normal after the car sits for about 30 minutes. The smart junction box was just replaced, as the former owner assumed that was the problem but it didn't help. Has anyone else heard of this problem or know how I should proceed?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

First thing to do on newer cars is scan for B and U codes, this requires a good scan tool, not a cheap hand held tool. This will point to the problem by displaying a trouble code. If you want to just throw parts into it, the headlight switch would be the next one.
