I have a 1995 ford ranger xlt 4 cyl. With 199,000 miles on it. I thought my heater core was bad so we spent 9hrs installing a new one this weekend and that didn't solve it. So we put a new heater control valve in it that only took 3 min and BINGO! That was it, we got heat. The only problem is my AC is running at the same time that my heater is on. I can hear it clicking on and off. When I rev the engine I get heat but when it idles it turns cold so I took out the fuse to my AC and now I just get heat. So my question is why would my AC be running at the same time as my defroster and how do I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Anytime you turn the defroster on the a/c will run to remove humidity! If you lose heat at idle, check the output of the waterpump. Impellers may be disolving.
Fords need to have the coolant system checked for voltage! Open the tank put neg lead on neg post and positive lead in the coolant tank, any voltage?
