2005 Ford Ranger Electrical ower loss to engine and starter

Recently purchased a 6cyl 2005 Ranger with 42000miles. After driving about an hour between 65 and 70 on interstate the engine suddenly quit with no warning. When I tried to restart there wasnÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½t any power to the starter but gauges and windows worked. Starter wouldnÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½t turn the engine over or even Ã¢ï¿½ï¿½clickÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½. An hour and a half later after a tow to a local garage the engine started up without a problem and now continues to run fine. CanÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½t get it to quit and diagnostics indicate no electronic problem. Any help would be appreciated.

There's an old rule in the business. "If it works, don't fix it." I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear, but without any stored codes, all we can do is guess. And our guessing can get expensive on your part. One thing I can say is in the early to mid '00 Ford Rangers, we've had a rash of intermitent crankshaft position sensor faiures, CPS. It could be a relay, sensor or even the PCM. The critical thing to know is, when the stalled condition exists, what is missing. Fuel pressure, spark, injector pulse, or a combination of any of the three. Hope this helps in some small way.
