2005 Ford Ranger battery light comes on

had battery light come on last week. replaced alternator and battery. ran fine for five days and am experiencing same problems. started truck and disconnected positive cable on battery and truck stopped running. is this the alternator?

It could be the alt. I would recommend having it checked where you got it. It may be as simple as a bad part.
