Check engine light was on. Cleared code PO 171 and 174, stated system was too lean. With these codes cleared(O2 Oxygen Sensor), by stating that it was too lean, which I assume made light come on, will I get better fuel mileage now

As long as you don't fix the problem that triggered these codes in the first place, it won't change anything.
What happen is that there is an uncontrolled flow of air entering your engine and leaning out your air/fuel ratio.
Your O2 sensors sense that and report back to the PCM which in turn add more fuel to the ratio to compensate for that extra air.

Check your intake gasket, throttle body gasket, etc for air leak.
Also, check your PCV; you may have air leaking thru there too.
