2004 Ford Ranger transmisssion sensor

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger with about 41200 miles,it will sometimes shift hard then the engine will pick up and drop back down is this transmission sensor.

hi yes could be a sensor or a shift sol. you need to have trk scanned for trans codes to determine the actual prob good luck billymac
