Electrical problem 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 61,000 miles

Hi, I am trying to remove the starter solenoid/ motor from a 2004, 4wd, 4.0L SOHC, Ford Ranger. How do you do this? I have it completely disconnected and unbolted - I just can't get the thing out of the truck. I couldn't find any messages on the internet with this type of problem. It doesn't seem to be a problem with other types of Rangers. I wrestled with it trying to take it out toward below and above including the removable mud flap through driver's side wheel well. I tried with the car jacked up at driver's side wheel and with the tire back on and truck on the ground.

This picture just shows it parked, where I left it last night, between the front drive shaft and crank case.
I have kind of an intermediate level of experience, so if I have to take off the crank case cover, I will be challenged.

Yes. It turns out we had to loosen a bushing that holds the transfer box in order to get it out. No matter the starter isn't bad anyway. On to the relay. Thanks for the reply.
