Electrical problem
2003 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge. I went on a lengthy trip and came back to find my Battery had completely died. There is no telling how long it was dead for. The battery has been recharged but the key won’t turn over the engine the “theft” light keeps blinking. I do have an automatic remote start kit that was after market installed by my ford dealer… When I hit the button on the keychain nothing happens (the lights used to blink and it would make a small honk noise) I changed the battery in the keychain just to be sure. Can you help me out? I would hate to call in for a tow for a simple fix.

If the security light is flashing, the problem is within the security system. I hate to say it, but the dealer is the only place that has the proper equipment to test the system.
