I have tried several places with no luck as to how to determine whether I have 9inch brake drums or 10inch brake drums? Is there any difference as far as braking and how do I determine the size?

Remove the tire, sometimes you can read the size thats stamped on the outer edge of the drum, if it's not to rusty, if not remaove the drum, use a tape measure to measre accross the opening.
