y would a vehicles rpms go up to a regular idle then drop way down and almost die. The if u try to drive it just dies

Many things could cause this. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? And finally, have you checked the EGR valve for carbon build up?
