Sometimes you can try to start the truck and it fires right up and you can try to start it a few seconds later and it will just crank over. I have replaced the plugs and wires and thought the wires were causing it so I put the second set on and it still does it. I have also put a fuel pump and both filters on it and still does it. Please help this problem is running my bank dry!

Has the check engine light come on? When it doesn't start, have you checked to see if it is getting spark and fuel to the engine?

No check engine light and I put a fuel pressure tester on it and it always has steady pressure. Im not for sure about the spark but if you keep cranking on it, it will eventually start. Never sure when it will do it though. Thanks for the reply I will check for spark.

Check that and make sure it is a good hot blue snapping spark. If it is weak, it will make it hard to start.

I checked the spark and its good. But yesterday I could not get it to do it. I started it about 20 times and it fired right up. It seems to do it when it is wet outside more but not always the case.

Try this test. At night when it is dark, start the engine, open the hood, and mist water on the plug wires, distributor cap, coil. See if anything is arcing.

Let me know what you find.

Ok it was raining last night so I checked it and it is arcing off the wire onto the a/c shield. This is the second brand new set of wires in a week that is doing this.

Thats the problem. Since you had problems before, purchase wire loom and place it over the wires where they could arc.

Let me know if it helps, and thanks for using 2carpros. Com.
