Engine surges when driving in any gear at less than 2000 rpm. No surge after reaching 2000 rpm. Dealer diagnostics do not indicate electrical problem or any codes. New Motorcraft plugs and wiring harness did not correct.

If the maps sensor is not performing, will it generate a "code" to indicate a problem.

Did they test the fuel pump? How does it perform going up a steep hill?

Yes some sensors can be slightly out of spec and not throw out a code.
