The egr valve is on the side of the intake plenum and it will have an electrical plug in and vacuum line and a metal tube to the bottom. To remove it simply unplug the elect. connector and vacuum line and unscrew the tube from the bottom. Then remove the two bolts that hold it on and put it back in reverse order. Here are some diagrams for you to see where to find the EGR and a video to help you test it.

(Check the diagrams below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

JACKSON01 Please provide link to such diagrams, or more detailed info about it, YouTube has nothing on this specific model. Thank you, you are the first one I found that actually addresses this specific problem, 2002 F ranger, very difficult to get EGR out. I want to do it myself Thank you so much.

Hi Heri,

Looks like this original post was from last year so I am not sure they will post a reply. However, it looks like the repair procedure attached above is all the detail that we have access to on this specific engine. I compared it to the actual manual from Ford and it is identical. You need to drop the trans enough to access it so it is not an easy one. Unfortunately, I have not found any short cuts for this replacement.
