2002 Ford Ranger cv joints/cv boots

2002 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i was wondering what the price might be to replace my cv joints and/or boots.im not sure if they are one in the same.

if its the cv joint and boots bad it might be cheaper in the end to put in a whole new cv axle. figure for about 2 hours of labor and 100 bucks for the part at a local place. dealership will be more for the part.
