Ok, I searched I couldnt find anything related to my problem, I have a 01' Ford Ranger 2 wheel manual. Its doing some strange things, the cooling fan seems to come on at odd times with the heaters on, for example right after I start my truck and its below freezing and the truck is not even close to be warm enough to be running the fan. Secondly the temp. Gauge will drop from the middle to C (cold) while driving down the higway I assume the fan is kicking on because my head lights dim when it starts to drop (only seems to happen when I have the heating/cooling system on), but when I am in town and driving 45 or less I dont have the temp problem but my fan still kicks on when in any other mode but floor. Pleas help I am lost beyond lost with this one and dont have a clue where to start.

Thanks

Adam

I am so hoping that I did not just donate for that answer. Why would the "cooling fan" be used to warm the engine when the engine is already cold and therefore the coolaint is also cold, where is it getting its warmth from.

Are you running the defroster? That turns on the a/c which in turn kicks on the cooling fan. Check the coolant level and replace the thermostat. Sounds like it may be stuck or sticking.
