2001 Ford Ranger 4wheel drive trouble

i have a 2001 ranger and i just tried out the 4wheel drive and when i turn the wheel either way more then 60% of the way there is a major vibration and it acts like the wheels are rubbing extremely bad but i checked them and they clear.
what could be my problem?
