2000 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2000 ford ranger, 4cly. 2 wheele drive. I have a squealing sound coming form my truck it gets louder when you press on the gas petal. My friend thought it was the power steering pump, but I replaced that this weekend and thats no it. Any ideas?

Could be the drive belt. Loose, worn. Could be the tensioner. Check both.

BELT TENSION
Vehicles are equipped with automatic drive belt tensioner. Drive belt does not require adjustment. Inspect condition and tension of generator drive belt prior to performing any on-vehicle charging system tests. Replace belt and/or repair tensioner mechanism if necessary.

If the drive belt tensioner was failing nothing on that belt would work including alernater water pump power steering pump or condenser for the a/c cause the belt would not tighten its self so the belt would slip but it sounds more like a belt or the pulley is bad on one of the pumps
