2000 Ford Ranger loud clanking

I am having a loud clank and it sounds like it is coming from my tranny. if i exelerate fast and let off the gas it will shift and there is the clank. I am also getting a lound metal grinding sound coming from the rear end when i take off from a stop and when i come to a stop.

IS there any vibration issue as well? Check the rear u-joint. Sounds like it is seizing. The needle bearings will powderize.
