Engine shudders when coming to a stop. Smooths out.
This happens Once in a while. I just fixed a P0171
code which turned out to be a hole in the Egr tube.
That tube was leaking for about 2 months.
these are the things i changed before the tube.
Plugs
Wires
Maf sensor
fuel filter
Pcv and 2 vacuum hoses
Fuel pump was tested and is ok.

Should i change the IAC valve to cure the shudder?

Have you checked it? If you need directions, check this posting. I have been dealing with a similar issue and have outlined the procedure for checking the IAC.

Just so you know, the IAC will cause a looping idle. Is that what is happening? Its purpose is to allow air into the intake when the throttle plate closes to prevent the engine from stalling.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

No it isn't looping shudder. Happens just before i put it in reverse to park but never when I'm going down the road and when i come up to a light . It shudders and then smooths out.

Has the check engine light ever come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

I removed the wires to the IAC valve, rpms dropped to 500 but didn't stall . couldn't reach the pins on the valve
to test it with a multimeter. I did notice that it seems to be getting worse and now it's shuddering when i turn corners. Could this be a powering steering pump or serpentine belt issue?

I wouldn't think the belt or PS. Is there any smoke from the exhaust?

I'm thinking it is the power steering or belt. Noticed tonight that it shuttered , vibrated, when i turned the steering wheel. Same thing i'm experiencing when coming to a stop. Belt tentioner?

anything is possible. If the PS pump is bad, it could be placing more of a load on the engine, but that doesn't sound right to me. A tensionier wouldn't do it either. Remove the belt and see if the problem is gone. NOTE: Only run the engine for a few seconds to see if the problem is gone. It will overheat. While it is off, spin the accessory pulleys to see if they feel free and not an issue.

Let me know.
