There is a loud knock coming from the alternator. Got a new one, and still the same thing. Take the belt off, and start the car and it sounds fine. Put the belt back on and the noise comes back. Put a long extension on the alternator and it sounds like it is coming directly from the alternator. No noise from engine. Oh also replaced both idler pulleys. Any ideas?? I am clueless now.

It ended up just being the actual belt. Put a different belt on it and the knocking noise went away. Weird I know.
