1999 Ford Ranger knob for heat control

The heat and air will only work when the knob is set to full blast. Does the whole knob control panel need to be replaced?

I believe your knob is connected to a cable system and is not fully electronic. You could check on how the cables are functioning. If you are handy and want to go into the dash.
