The fuel switch is located on the passenger's side kick panel. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Every few days I have a sputtering engine shutdown. When trying to restart there's no sound of the fuel pump whirring. After about 20 minutes the car will start ok and run fine for a few days. Have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel relay, and PCM relay. After driving 20 minutes or so I notice the two relays are hot to the touch. Have you an idea of what the problem might be? Thanks

suspect fuel pump may have poor ground causing high amp draw

Also check for corrosion at the fuel-pump cutoff inertia switch. It is located on the passenger side floor, at the front of the carpeting/floor mat near the firewall. It has a red reset switch on it. The connectors on these switches, due to their location, are prone to corrosion.

Hello,

Okay, just so we are on the same page I have included in the diagrams down below a wiring diagram of your vehicle's starting system. With an assistant cranking the ignition switch can you take a voltage reading for me of pin #87 of the Starter Relay in the Engine Compartment Fuse Relay Box. It should have a yellow wire with a light blue stripe on it going to the start motor. It will require you to use a multi-meter so I have included a link for you to go to below if you are unfamiliar with how to use one.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-voltmeter

Please get this reading for us and let us know what you are able to find out. We will go from there.

Thanks,
Alex

had an accident not any real damage but truck wont start, sounds flooded. Tow in guy said it's probably the starter/ignition switch needs resetting. Is this the inertia switch he's talking about? Where is it located and how do I reset it? Or is this some other relay/reset switch ?

It is located below the right side of the dash, below the glove box. Should be a pop-up button that you push to reset. If you still suspect it, use a test light to see if it is getting power in and out

one wire from the relay and the other goes to the pump.

It was on the right side next to the kick panel. It's the inertia switch. I dealt with this on a 1998 B2500 I had.

I figured out what I needed. The switch is marked NO C NC so that told me which 2 wires I needed to put a jumper wire on. Thanks.

RSM61... please explain the last post for a newby... NO C NC ?? could you share a diagram of which pins this refers to and what the letters mean?

I also need to know which pins to jumper... sorry, but your last message was unclear to me.

Thank you, I appreciate your help.

Find out why the inertia switch is being tripped-could be a short within the fuel pump circuit. disconnect the fuel pump connector and power the fuel pump from the battery and see if it continues-

Engine Performance problem
1993 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive manual

the truck stalled while driving. the fuel switch was reset; when the button was pushed it did not come up does that mean it is stuck or that it neds the pressure to rebuild? or is there some thing else we should be looking at. there was no noises when the truck stalled. truck will not turn over now.

Hi judries, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

When you turn key to run-do you hear the fuel pump come on, If not check fuse no.18 20amp in the power distribution box and test the fuel pump relay and PCM power relay and aslo test the inertia switch.

If you hear the fuel pump come On check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump if its within specs, check that the injectos are pulsing.

BTW way do you have spark?
