1998 Ford Ranger Trans compatibility w/1998 Ranger 2.5L 4x2

Transmission problem
1998 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Everything I've found says the 1998 Ranger 2.5L and 3.0L 4x2 automatic transmissions are supposed to be the same (4R44E). Since the engines are different, do I need different wiring or any other adapter to make the swap?
