1998 Ford Ranger Fuel starved and hungry for answers

My 98, 4.0L 4x4 won't stay running after turning over, I've got good spark, changed the fuel filter, checked the resistance and voltager of the idle air control valve, checked the air intake up to the throttle body, charged and recharged the battery, I've got fuel upto the fuel rail, before I go tearing everything else apart I figured I would ask for some much needed help.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specification and clean out the idle air control valve/passages and also check the throttle position sensor
