1998 Ford Ranger Door Ajar stays on

My door ajar dash light and dome light remain on after the doors are closed. The amount of time these stay on is increasing. What are some possible problems and how can I fix them?

most probably one of the door switches for the light's is sticking or faulty the switches are located near the hinges on each door .. it could be either side so check both switches ??
