1997 Ford Ranger wierd noises

its making a rattling noise not under the hood but almost under the cab or front of the bed sound like metal rattling not alltime but alot even at idle thanks so much for your help

Look at the exhaust pipe see catallyctic covertor heat shield is loose rattling. Secure it wire stuff stral wool in there or rip it off.
