I am having problems getting my truck into first gear. I had it checked and the mechanic says I need an entire clutch system that will cost $550. I am a woman who knows little about vehicles and I wanted to ask if this is the only problem it could be and if that cost is reasonable.

Hi there,

Low or incorrect oil in the transmission can cause hard gear selection, but under normal conditions the clutch is the main item that is at fault, just make sure that they have inspected the operating system (hydraulics or cable first) as for the price that sound reasonable.
