I was filling up-amounts of gas were leaking onto the ground?

I have owned a 1996 ford ranger since about 1999--about 2 years ago I noticed that when I was filling up-amounts of gas were leaking onto the ground-finally after further investigation--right below the gas tank entrance (below the gas cap) there was a plastic or neoprene hose connected to the fill pipe that had about a 3 inch rotted gash in it...what to do ??? -Thanks, Scott

It sounds like this line that you have a crack in is part of the filler neck which is actually a vent line or EVAP emissions line.

If that is the case, then we need to replace the filler neck.
