I have 2 odd problems. My truck always starts and runs fine but there is a strong smell of gasoline. The odor is stronger the fuller the tank is and is nearly gone by the time it is down to half full and I can't find any leaks or cracks in the tank or the filler tube area. After reading the questions similar to this in your forum I was thinking it could be the canister purge valve but there is no operating problem other than the smell. What do you think?
The second issue is a rattling noise in the transmission/clutch area. It only occurs at idle with the AC on and always goes away when I push the clutch pedal in. My guess is throwout bearing but I'm wondering if there is anything in the slave cilynder that can cause a rattling noise? Any help you can give is appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like the fuel leak may be a seapage through rotted tank/lines/neck. It may be so slight that the evidence isn't showing yet. Can't say I've seen the canninster be a problem myself.

That rattling noise doesn't sound like anything with the slave, as it is hydrolic. More inclined to "think" the throw out bearing, but would need to hear the rattle.
