1994 Ford Ranger V6 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 89200 miles

do you have to remove the steering box to replace the sector shaft output seal, or can you remove the snap ring and remove the sector shaft, would it be eaiser?

I wouldremove the gear box to door the repair hope it helps pat
