1993 Ford Ranger valvae rapping

When I start my truck on a cold start. When my idle drops from high idle to low idle my valves on the right side seem to be making a rapping sound, I also lose power to drive for about 2 to 3 minutes, then my power returns and I have acceleration again. Any input to this would be appreciated.

Does it sound like valves tapping or a knocking sound?

It sounds like a loud tap, but not quite knocking. Almost if you were to buy bad fuel. Only on a cold start when it comes down from high idle to low idle, and truck has no power when you put it in gear(top speed of like 10mph) for about 1-3 minutes.
