1993 Ford Ranger Spark plugs

Hi well my problem starts off as one of my friends was messing with my truck and forgot to put the number four plug wire on. And I drove it for 4 miles with a bad missing problem. So I got it home and changed the plugs and made sure that all the wire were good. Now all is good but I drove it and it now get a little hot and the check engine light comes on. What would this mean?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
